It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Arthur Budden of Halifax, on October 17th, 2018, one week after his 88th birthday, at Northwood, Halifax, Nova Scotia. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late John and Mary (Clark) Budden. He lived most of his life in Glace Bay and for more than the past fifteen years, he lived in Dartmouth and Halifax. He is survived by daughter Faith (Londo) Scattolon, son Gardiner (Cheryl) Budden, Halifax, grandchildren Victoria, Acton and Kaelyn and by the mother of his children Glenda (Dodie) Budden. He is also survived by sister Ann Johnson, Glace Bay, and brother Gerry (Judy) Budden, Sydney and by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Abe, Albert, John (Jack), Leonard, Robert (Bob) and sisters Edith and Florence. He was very fond of anything to do with Cape Breton or Newfoundland, from the music to the history of both islands. In his later years, he enjoyed researching the history of his parents’ families in Newfoundland. For many years, he assembled a newsletter of this history and stories of growing up in Glace Bay with his brothers and sisters that he would mail to all his nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford. (902-835-4212). A private service will take place in the spring in Cape Breton.
