Obituary of Edith Elizabeth Gilbert

It is with sadness the family of Edith Elizabeth Gilbert, age 100 of Timberlea, announce her passing on June 5th, 2019, at White Hills Long Term Care Centre.
Born in Garnish, Newfoundland, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Lizzie Newport.
Edith was a long standing member of St. Andrews Anglican Church. She enjoyed gardening and looking after the church.
Edith will be lovingly remembered by her sons, David and Raymond; daughter Jeannette (John) Pelley; daughter-in-law Ethel Gilbert; sister Bertha Lorenzen (St. John’s, NFLD); grandchildren Janice (Serge) Lavigne, Chris (Sonya) Gilbert, John (Lynn) Gilbert, Lori Gilbert, Kimberley Kennedy, Jeff Gilbert, and Darren and Leanne Pelley; great grandchildren Chantal (Ainslie), Michelle (Ross), Josh, Amelia, Charlotte, Victoria, Aliscia, and Bekka; great great grandchildren Evander and Mackenzie; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Beside her parents, Edith was predeceased by husband John, son Donald, sisters Mahala and Mary, brothers Lloyd and Cyrus, and great great grandson Desmond.
Arrangements have taken place under the care of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, Halifax. (902-835-4212).
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 14th, at 11:00 AM at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church, at 2553 St. Margaret’s Bay Road, Timberlea, with Marilyn Hamlin, Rev. Mark Pretty, David Dellapina, and Judy Lafford officiating.
Interment will take place at a later date in the St. Andrews Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edith’s memory can be made to the St. Andrews Anglican Church.
