James Edward Gale

It is with broken hearts that we the family announce the passing of James “Jim” Edward Gale, age 78, at the Victoria Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 surrounded by his family.

 Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Alexander and Marguerite (Kennedy) Gale.

 He was the owner and operator of Jim Gale’s Painting for many years until his retirement.  Jim enjoyed going camping and travelling with his wife, Bernice. He was a member of MacKay’s Corner Dart League for many years.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Bernice (MacDonald) Gale; his daughter, Laurie (Mike) Buchanan, Newfoundland, sons, Jim (Lynn Fraser),  Glace Bay, Keith, Alberta; his wonderful grandchildren, Ryan (Samantha), Liam (Amanda), Garett (Anne Hopkins), Devon (Chloe Taylor); his precious great grandchildren, Carter, Cameron and Luci. He is also survived by his sister Linda Shepard; brother, David Gale as well as several nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2019 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199) with a reception to follow.

 Family flowers only, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or a charity of one’s choice.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Victoria Haven Nursing Home.
