We regret to announce the sudden passing of Gary Wayne Wilneff, age 73, on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Gary was a proud member of the Canadian Armed Forces from 1964-1974. After leaving the forces, Gary returned home to pursue a career in carpentry. He excelled during his chosen career. Gary formed Kavic Construction during which time he built hundreds of homes all over Cape Breton to include the first R2000 home on the Island. Some of his many accomplishments included President/Director and Teacher of multiple Home Builders Associations. Gary’s passions were spending time either on his boat, “Everwonder”, or being at the rink watching his boys play hockey.
Predeceased by his father, Joseph; mother, Gene (Levy) and brother, Myles. Survived by his loving wife, Pauline (Plichie); his sons, CJ (Asia) and Greg (Jenna; her sons, Dawson and Gage); his brothers, Gregory (Marilyn) and Jimmy (Charlene); his sisters, Carol (late Grant MacLean), Sandra (Willie Koza), Margo, Wendy (late Gary Gardiner), Tanya (Steward Cathcart); sister-in-law, Sandra (late Myles Wilneff).
Cremation has taken place and there will be a celebration of life held June 3, 2019, from 12 to 2p.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St Glace Bay, NS with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
