Olive Babstock

It is with heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Olive (West) Babstock passed away peacefully, Monday May 27, 2019 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney, NS, at age 79.

Olive was born in Bay L’ Argent, NL and was proud of her NL heritage. She travelled to many countries with her husband Harry who was in the Navy and they eventually settled in Glace Bay. She was employed by Modern Building Cleaners for many years until her retirement.

Olive enjoyed baking for any occasion, she was an avid bowler and loved to travel and play cards. 

Olive was survived by children, Daryl (Dolly) Babstock, Glace Bay, Belinda Garland (Shawn Dunlop) Baddeck, Trevor (Amaris) Babstock, North Carolina, June (Dave) Ettinger, Kentville, Jody (Scott) Wylde, Elora, ON;brother, Stanley West;sisters, Vivian Smith and Goldie Rodway all of NL;

grandchildren, Nicole (Jay) MacLean, Daryl (Chantelle), Sarah (Kyle), William, Christopher (Jolene and her children Isaiah, Dominic, Summer) Jeff, Melissa, Dylan, Holly, Sebastian, Maxine, Benjamin & Rebecca; great-granddaughter, Laikyn.

Besides her parents, Olive was predeceased by her husband, Harry;sister, Emily, and brothers, Tom and Garfield. 

The family would like to thank the staff at Harbourstone Enhanced Care for their kindness and caring during her time there.

Cremation has taken place, visitation will be Friday, May 31st at 12p.m. at T.J. Tracey’s Funeral Home, Glace Bay, followed by funeral service at 2p.m. officiated by Rev. Myrna MacMullin. Reception to follow. 

In memory of Olive, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Society Canada.
