I'm sorry to hear of Joann's passing. What first comes to mind was her willingness to help anyone who needed it in our condo. As mentioned in the obituary, she did not advertise all her good works. May her friends and family find comfort in their experiences with her.

My apologies to JoAnn's family for this late note with my very sincere condolences on the loss of a wonderful member of your family. I was out of country and hoping to see JoAnn again on my return. Sadly, I did not have that opportunity so am deeply grateful that I had a little visit with JoAnn just before I left. She was in good spirits despite her heavy heart and I admired her even more for her courageous attitude and her focus on the present time. As a friend, JoAnn inspired me through her kindness and generosity and an outlook on life that was motivated by her desire to be helpful and to make everyone feel better. Her energy seemed boundless; she walked, cycled, set up her themed villages for annual holidays, engineered the running of her model trains, and played as hard as she worked. She had so many ideas and practices for organizing communities for better living, and she always gave more than her share of time and energy to make it all happen. Her time here was too brief but I am privileged to have counted her as a friend. She has a special place in my heart.

Nancy and Scott and families, I was so very saddened to hear of JoAnn’s passing. Her beautifully written obituary tells me she was a light in many people’s lives. My mother used to talk of her and her work with seniors, she said she was such a kind and thoughtful person. Of course I remember her as a young girl growing up in Westmount, so many memories. My prayers are with you all in this time of sadness.

Nancy, Scott and Families, so truly sorry for your sorrow at the loss of your dear sister Joann. I have many memories of your, “little sister”, a quiet wee blonde girl with the sweetest smile. We were pirates together, ‘ one afternoon, when we sat on the front steps of the house on Ballochmyle Dr , and sewed a red Levis tag on the back pocket of her generic blue jeans. She was maybe 8 yrs old, and she was tickled with our little alteration. As well, sitting in the front porch on a rainy afternoon, reading a Bobbsey Twin book to her while I waited for sister Nancy, who I know she idolized. It is so wonderful to know her life was so full and dedicated to the welfare and service to others. She used her time here to it’s fullest value. May she rest in peace and love.

I spent my early childhood hanging out with JoAnn in Westmount. I have fond memories of gathering at her house or mine, playing catch and just enjoying childhood. I saw my first movie with her. We took the bus from Westmount to Sydney, which was a very big deal at the time. I am saddened to read her obituary, but happy to know that she lived such a rich and fulfilling life. RIP, my friend.

Good Morning, I worked with JoAnn for many years at MRHA, JoAnn’s passing left me in shock and
disbelief, a beautiful person passed to early. One of the many things I recall is JoAnn forming a baseball
team with staff to go out and play with Tenants in their community, I so enjoyed those days.
Please accept my deepest sympathy to your family, she will certainly be missed by all but never
forgotten.
