Obituary of Mary Harriet Petrie

Petrie, Mary Harriet- Age 74, of Antigonish, Nova Scotia and formerly of West Bay Road, NS. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, who lost her battle with brain cancer on January 28, 2019 at the R.k. MacDonald Nursing home, Antigonish, NS. Born August 1, 1944 in New Waterford, NS. She was the daughter of the late John and Hilda (MacDonald) Petrie. Harriet was a retired Home Support Worker with Inverness County Home Care and with Canada Post as a rural route mail driver. She was a longtime member of the West Bay Road Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She loved to sew, bake and made some beautiful quilts. Harriet enjoyed a nice cup of tea and conversation. She is survived by her sons Michael (Lorrie), Grand Anse; Brian, Dartmouth; Daughters: Angela (Marc) Grimard, Prud’Homme, Sask.; Patricia (Bill) Tait, Ellerhouse, NS. Grandchildren Kaleb, Michael, Monica, Joshua, Mathieu, Joel, Bret, Breigh and Mikayla. Great grandchild, Abel. Sisters Marilyn (Lester) Bird, Amherst, NS; Helen Fougere, Haver Boucher. Sister-in-law Anne Petrie, Sydney, NS. Brothers George (Carolyn) Petrie, Riverside; Steven (Lillian) Petrie, St.Peters Bay, PEI. Several nephews and nieces. Harriet was predeceased by her brothers Johnny (Mary) Petrie, and Billy Petrie and Brother in-law Carl Fougere. Cremation has taken place. No visitation by request. Funeral mass and burial will take place at St. Margaret’s Parish, West Bay Road, at a later date.
