She was a wonderful lady, I remember the light she would bring to my university history classes. I loved her perspectives she brought to our class. Also, an inspiration for life long learning. I was blessed to have met her.

I have never met Sister Ellen, however I feel connected through my mother’s friendship .Her healing ways , power of prayer , musical gifts and genuine caring for fiamily , friends and strangers ,she made a difference to so many ! My mom iresides in a nursing home , and as a client years back for therapeutic touch met Sister Ellen . Sister never lost touch with my mom. Annie called her , “Helen “ , likely the consonant was heard because of her Margaree French . The first time I ever mailed a card to Sister , my brother corrected me on the spelling .
This very special woman has left her mark ! She was indeed “the best medicine” and an angel to my mother . My mother is not able to send condolences ,however in the moment, she will register and feel the loss of a precious friend . I know that my mom and family are truly thankful for the life of Sister Ellen. With deepest sympathy to “all” Brenda lewis

We first met Sister Ellen on our tour of Scotland and Ireland in 2001. She won many friends on that trip. We were fortunate to stay in touch with her when it was discovered that her brother, Blaise, and his family lived down the street from us in Dartmouth. However, we moved a couple of years after that and lost touch. We never lost touch with the many happy memories we have of her. She was indeed all that others have put forth in their condolences. Our sympathies to her family and the many people she has touched over the years.

To Sister Ellen’s family:
We were very saddened to hear of Sister Ellen’s passing. She certainly left her mark as a teacher in Port Hawkesbury with her generosity and friendly smile. Since I am originally from Margaree, we had something in common in that her late uncle Simon was a friend of our family while he lived in the Senior apartments there. May her soul rest in peace.

She was a wonderful woman, and a special student in my classes at CBU in the early 2000s. Always teaching and encouraging her fellow students in words, but also through actions. A life to be celebrated and emulated; always open to learning, and always caring for anyone struggling, and always actively looking to help others be their best.

So very sorry to hear of Ellen’s passing. She was such a lovely, talented, energetic and kind person. I’m sure she will be sadly missed by all her family and friends. She will now be making beautiful music in Heaven!

Condolences to the family and members of the Sisters of Charity on the death of Sr. Ellen. It is however, wonderful to have the memory of a life well lived as Sr. Ellen was one of the most active/caring people alive – that energy will never have gone to waste! Interested in energy work such as Reiki and also Therapeutic Touch® bringing comfort physically AND mentally/spiritually to many people over the years. As some would say, “she was ahead of her time”! I feel privileged to have known this “holy woman”. Very best to her sisters in Charity…Judy Donovan Whitty http://www.atlanticttn.com, formerly Ingonish/Sydney/Hfx./Antigonish and now Charlottetown, PEI.

I will really miss Sister Ellen as she was the brightest star that I have ever met. She was the most amazing organizer of the original Reiki training in Cape Breton. She lovingly co-ordinated our very interesting meetings of the Reiki members, and kept us all together. It feels like an ‘era’ has passed with her.
With her interest in all things spiritual, she can now discover and learn first hand.
She will be the angel that makes a lot of music and will hear her in the wind.
Light and love to my very good friend – now in spirit.
Eleanor

I remember Sister Ellen from her time in Port Hawkesbury. I will never forget her smile and her laugh.
I was fortunate enough as a young girl to have traveled a couple of times with her when she was going to Beaver Cove (I have family in the area that I would go visit). She had such a positive outlook and brought so much positive energy to those around her. I don’t thing the word ‘can’t’ was part of her vocabulary!
Please accept my deepest condolences and know you will be in my thoughts and prayers in the days ahead/
