Obituary of Frieda Duhamel

Frieda Duhamel Tower Road We regret to announce the death of Frieda Duhamel, age 97, on February 11, 2019 at Taigh Solas, North Sydney. She was the daughter of the late William and Anne Herrmann and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born and raised on Tower Road, she lived there until she entered the long-term care facility. In her younger years, she worked at the former Cape Breton Hospital. She enjoyed playing darts and was a member of the former St. Anthony’s Parish. Frieda is survived by sons, Charlie (Catherine), Emile (Diane); daughter, Debbie (Mike LeBlanc); daughter-in-law, Lillian and son-in-law, Don; five grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Charles; son Bryan; daughter, Anna Dean; granddaughter, Darlene Dean; brother, Billy; sisters, Annie, Emma and Ella. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held 10 a.m. Friday, February 15, 2019, at Holy Cross Church, Seaview St., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding. Reception to follow. Burial to take place at a later date. Thank you to the doctors and staff of Taigh Solas, Northside General Hospital, who cared for Frieda over the past five years.
