Obituary of Ivan Milton Neaves

It is with sadness that the family of Ivan Neaves, age 92 of Halifax, announce his passing on November 3rd, 2018, at Northwood Centre. Born in Summerville, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Howard and Estella (Sabean) Neaves. Beside his parents, Ivan was predeceased by sisters Blanche and Helen, and first wife Margaret (Brannen) Neaves. Ivan is survived by his second wife Marie (Saxton) (Ross) Neaves of Halifax; step sons Fred (Anne) Brannen of Dartmouth and Thomas (Judith) Ross of Sackville; step daughter Lois Flemming of Toronto; five step grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews. Ivan worked for many years at Sears Department Store in the shipping department. Over the years, Ivan was involved with Northwood Players, Meals on Wheels, Toastmasters, and participated as a volunteer for Friday church services at Northwood Nursing Home. He was also a member of the Bayers Road Baptist Church. Special thanks to the staff of Northwood for their excellent care of Ivan over the past three years. They provided care and comfort above and beyond what was required. Funeral arrangements have taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford. (902-835-4212) A memorial service will be held in the Northwood Penthouse, 2615 Northwood Terrace, Halifax, on Friday, November 9th at 2:00 pm, with the Rev. Renee Clarke officiating. A reception will take place immediately following the service. Interment will take place at a later date in Riverside Cemetery, Weymouth.
