Hitchie, Donald Wayne It is with profound sadness the family announces his peaceful passing on October 13, 2015, at the VG Hospital in Halifax, after suffering a long illness. He was predeceased by his mother Isabelle (Vance) Hitchie and father Stan Hitchie of Regina, SK. Don was born April 25, 1947 in Regina, Sk. He entered the ‘oil patch’ at age 19 and joined Shell Canada in 1968. His work brought him to Nova Scotia, Surinam, The Arctic, Anticosti Island and many years in Calgary, Alberta. After retiring from Shell, he worked as a consultant for Marathon Drilling, Corridor Resources and Exxon Mobil. Don loved his work in the ‘oil patch’ where he met his many friends across Canada. He was a generous and caring person who shared his informed knowledge with those who were fortunate to share his life. He is survived and fondly remembered by his sisters, Judie Krislock and Jill (Gerry) Harris of Regina, and his special nieces and nephew; Ashleigh Krislock (Calgary), Taylor Krislock (Saskatoon), Meghan (Joe) Ngae (Calgary) Logan (Scott) Rodonets (Regina), and his step children Craig and Christine McInnes. We would like to thank his good friend, Paul, who was with him when he passed away and his many friends who visited him in the hospital over the past several months. He will be sadly missed by all. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Don’s life took place in Halifax. A memorial will be held at a later date. “In one of the stars I shall be living, in one of them I shall be laughing.” Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J.
