Shand, Enid Susan
Age 98 of Wellington, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully in Hants Community Hospital October 4, 2015.
Born in Shag Harbour, Shelburne Co., she was the daughter of the late Edna (Smith) and Stanley Crowell. Her renown as a story teller and family historian included many anecdotes and reminiscences of growing up amongst family and friends in Shag Harbour. Enid moved to Dartmouth in 1940 after marrying “the love of her life” Randall (Ginger) and they were blessed with two children Judy and Philip.
She became very active in the U.C.W. at Stairs Memorial Church, where she also served as secretary and president.
Her passion for politics, inherited from her father, sparked many lively conversations at family gatherings. She will be sadly missed by all her family and friends.
Surviving are her daughter Judy Young and her family all from Florida: Karen (Doug) Bramley, Kim (Sam) Midea, Kelly (Daryn) Partain and their children Jordan, Rachael, Emily and Megan, Alyson and Jacob; Enid’s son Philip (Leslie) and their children Laura, Ian and Alex. She was predeceased by her husband Randall; brothers Norman and Paul; son-in-law Eddie Young.
There will be visitation for Mrs. Shand from 10 a.m. until the service time at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 10, in St. John’s United Church, Fall River. Donations in Enid’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
