Joseph Alexander Neary “Sandy” Glace Bay It is with heartfelt sorrow we announce the passing of our brother, Sandy Neary on February 19, 2019 at the Glace Bay Hospital after a brief battle with esophagus cancer. He was the beloved son of the late Peter and Elva Neary and stepson of the late Theresa (Nicholson) Neary. He was predeceased by his sister, Danette Neary Boutilier, grandparents, George and Nan Hines and Mary and Patrick Neary, Glace Bay. He was also predeceased by numerous aunts and uncles, cousins and many good friends. Sandy was a master fly tier, he loved to fish the Margaree and on the ocean, whether it was cod, haddock or lobster. His passion was the water. Sandy delivered papers at an early age and made many friends, he just loved to talk. Hockey and baseball were sports he enjoyed, whether it be playing or watching. He loved to have a drink and tell stories to anyone who would listen, He was known as a tormentor to his sisters, Monica and Carmen. Sandy thought enough of people that he signed his donor card so others could benefit. Sandy also known as “Posie” is survived by his son, Marc Neary, nephew, Robert LeBlanc (Laurie Ann), both of Cheticamp, his sisters, Monica (Blair) Munden, Carmen (Gus) Daix, his brother, Peter Neary; aunt Veronica Stonier, uncle Garnet Marsh and many cousins. Sandy had a large circle of friends that will miss his calls. The family would like thank our cousin, Karen Gouthro and childhood friend Wes Truckair for their countless hours of sitting and talking with Sandy; his palliative care time Dr. Ann Frances D’Intino and Michelle Kelly for their love and compassion, you ladies are truly angels and will be never be forgotten, thank you. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2019 at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
