Obituary of Catherine Ilsley Orr

Catherine Ilsley Orr, 84, of Bedford, peacefully left us on April 19. Catherine was born in Barrington Passage in 1932 then moved to Shubenacadie with her family. She graduated from Acadia U in 1954 and worked in Montreal and Halifax before marrying her husband of 59 years, Laurie Keith Orr. Catherine and Laurie raised three kids as they moved from NS, Ontario, PEI and back to NS. Catherine completed her BEd at UPEI in 1977. She loved her family, her many long-time friends, hikes and nature, music, travelling, animals, card games and puzzles, her extended Orr family and the family cottage outside Parrsboro. She sponsored kids with World Vision and volunteered with adult literacy. Catherine was a woman of grace, wit, integrity and kindness. She is survived by her husband Laurie, children Judith Orr (Dan Thimot), Michael Orr (Jennifer Hancock) and Melanie Orr, grandkids Natalie and Ashley Thimot, Paige Lane, and Hannah and Ryan Orr. She was predeceased by her parents Lillian (Ilsley) and George MacMichael, and brother Douglas MacMichael. A celebration of her life will be held Wednesday, April 27 1:00 at Bedford United Church.
