POTTIE Gloria Rose, (nee Strickland) age 74, passed peacefully at home on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Born in Beach Point, PEI, she was a daughter of Victor and Hattie (Jackson) Strickland. Gloria moved to Halifax in 1973 and worked for many years at Sears in the mail order department. After retiring, Gloria volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was a parishioner of Blessed Mother Teresa parish where she was an active member of the CWL, serving as Secretary for Christian Family Life. Gloria was also a lector at Saturday Masses. Gloria enjoyed dancing, country music, bingo, and social events. She was an avid reader, and delighted in walks in the Public Gardens. Gloria will be remembered as a kind, generous, cheerful friend to many people. She helped several families with care of elderly relatives, and always spoke well of everyone. Gloria tried always to embody her Christian faith. Gloria is survived by her sister, Mona Bowlan, PEI, her brother, Brent Strickland, Ontario, and George MacDonald, her loving companion of 25 years. She also leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Pottie, in 1986 and her sister, Lucy MacNeill and brothers Clarence, Floyd and Ambrose. Gloria was much loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, April 28,11 am at Blessed Mother Teresa Church, 6032 Normandy Dr., Halifax. Reception to follow. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J.
