STEVENS, Aime (Kaseste) – Age 77 of Halifax, passed away peacefully November 11, 2018 at Northwood Center.
Born in Prangli Saar, Estonia, on April 5, 1941, Aime was the eldest daughter of Edgar and Melinda (Malnstrom) Kaseste.
She is survived by daughter Darlene Lynn Stevens, Darlene’s father, Victor Ervine Stevens, sister Milvi (Philip Charlton), Milvi’s children Shannon, Patrick and Ryan, as well as nieces and nephews on the Stevens side of the family. She is also survived by in-laws, Keith and (Violet) Stevens, Judith and (Dayrl) Burgess, and Bruce and (Jennifer) Stevens.
She was predeceased by both her parents as well as her son Victor Edgar Stevens and brother Valvo Kaseste.
Aime’s life began in communist-occupied Estonia. When Aime was quite young, the family decided to escape from their country and succeeded on the second attempt, fleeing by fishing boat across the Bay of Finland and eventually to Sweden. Aime was also predeceased by her beloved brother Valvo who drowned saving the life of a young girl. Despite many traumatic events that would later shape her life, Aime was a wonderful mother who truly loved her children. She enjoyed gardening, bowling and the company of her cats Tom and Jerry.
