Obituary of Catherine Gertrude ‘Trudy’ Hopper Evanoff

Lower Sackville, NS – It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of Catherine Gertrude Hopper Evanoff (Trudy) born June 18th, 1947 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Daughter of the late R.J. and Effie Hopper.
She is survived by her brothers: Art (Clara) of Lower Sackville and Lenny (Patricia) of Ontario. A proud mother of two surviving daughters: Andrea Winter (Dave) of Cold Lake, Alberta and Charlene Lucas, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Equally a proud grandmother of two grandchildren: Devann and Rene Lucas as well as, two great granddaughters: Callie and Aubree. Along with two nieces and three nephews. She is predeceased by her sister Sylvia, brother Junior and niece Rhonda.
She will be greatly missed by her community who has known her for her gracious hospitality and exquisite cooking. Community minded, Trudy gave much of her time to volunteering with the Friends of Scotia and Ivy Meadows. Some of her many accomplishments consist of: her service with the Order of the Eastern Star and the Big Bras d’Or Fire Department, along with her working with the Grosvenor (National Geographic) and Bell families.
Following her cremation, it is her deepest desire to have her ashes brought home to Big Bras d’Or to be laid with her family. A memorial service will be held in Ivany Place Chapel (Northwood at the Parks ‘Ivany Place’ 123 Gary Martin Drive, Bedford) on Thursday, June 9 at 1:00pm.
