Janice Swim Obituary

SWIM, Janice Age 72 of Bedford, passed away on July 2. She arrived by train from St. John’s to Clarenville, the train making an unscheduled stop at her doorstep. She was the daughter of the late Martin and Lottie Bourne. Sister to Agnes, Laurence and Margot. Janice is survived by her husband of 50 yrs Cleve Swim, her sons Kent (Julie Lalonde), Rodney (Sylvie Corbeil) and David (Krissy Gibson). Her grandchildren Erika, Alex, Sarah, Jenna and Stephen. She studied nursing at Grace Maternity and later moved to Ottawa working at the Madonna Nursing Home. She then worked for Minto Rentals before finding her niche at the Civic Hospital in charge of the Intern Residence. She retired and moved to Nova Scotia to enjoy her remaining days with Cleve. In her retirement she enjoyed her cottage in Clark’s Harbour, trips to Portugal, Spain and the Caribbean. She delighted in selecting lunches throughout Halifax and was adamant to keep her weekly hair appts. Adored wife, mother and grandmother she will be sadly missed by her friends and family. Her life celebration followed by a reception will be held at Knox United Church 567 Sackville Dr, Lower Sackville, NS 11am on July 6. Family flowers only. Donations in memory can be made to the Cdn Cancer Society.
