Obituary of Robert Northup

Robert H. Northup, 82 of Halifax passed away July 20, 2016 at the QEll, Halifax. Born in Halifax he was the son of William and Hariette Northup. Bob’s career spanned many years both in Ontario and Halifax where he retired from the NSPC. Much of his retirement was spent in service to the Grand Lodge of Nova Scotia as their Grand Secretary for 21 years. His Masonic life was very much a part of his life and he was honoured in 1999 to be made an Honorary Past Grand Master. He is a member of Virgin Lodge # 3 and over the years belonged to many concordant bodies. Bob was the last surviving member of his immediate family but leaves behind his nieces and nephews who unconditionally loved and supported him especially during his final illness. A celebration of his life and Masonic Service will be held Friday August 5, 2016 at Freemasons Hall, 165 Coronation Ave, Halifax at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers Bob’s wish was for donations in his memory to be made to the Masonic Foundation c/o 167 Coronation Ave., Halifax, NS B3N 2N2. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialists, Bedford NS.
