Obituary of Ronald ‘Ronnie’ MacDonald

Please share a memory of Ronald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 25, 2016 Ron “Ronnie” MacDonald was taken from this world suddenly, and too soon, at the age of 49. Ron has left behind his love and wife of over 30 years, Estella MacDonald (nee McPhee), and his pride and joy, daughter Brittany (Matthew Latter) MacDonald, all of Beaver Bank. Ron is also survived by his beautiful granddaughter Sophie Camille. Her recent birth brought new love into his life and the bond between her and her Poppy will live on. Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia he is survived by his mother, Irene MacDonald still of Sydney. Also surviving are brothers and sisters: Doug (Lorraine) MacDonald, Sydney; PJ (Jennifer) MacDonald, Sydney; Peter (Patsy) MacDonald, Dartmouth; Jack MacDonald of Halifax; Belinda (Bruce) McGibbon, Bedford; Trevor McPhee of Baddeck; Omer (Kelly) McPhee, Ontario; Judy (Roy) MacDonald, Sydney; and Bill (Jennifer) Dwyer, Sydney; Also still on this earth are his in-laws, Leroy and Estella McPhee of Westmount; and many nieces and nephews. Loved ones gone before Ron include his father, Douglas ‘Duke’ MacDonald; sister and close friend, Camille MacDonald; and family members, Nick Thomas and Utah McPhee. Nothing surpassed Ron’s love for his family and friends but the happiness he found in his garage came a close second. His ‘Garage Buddies’ are left to carry on his memory and shared passion. Any other downtime Ron had, you could find him with a fishing rod in hand or a day of hunting on the books. A special thank you to the staff and nurses of 5.1 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre, especially Dr. Christine Herman, Dr. Roger Baskett and Dr. Jeremy Wood. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T. J. Tracey Cremation & Burial Specialist, (902) 835-4212. There will be no visitation as per family request. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 29th at 11am in St. John Vianney Church, Lower Sackville. Interment at later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia in Ron’s memory are appreciated.
