Please share a memory of Joanne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joanne “Moore” Burke, age 63 of Dartmouth. On November 17th, 2018, the world lost this beautiful human being. Born in Sydney, Cape Breton, she was the daughter of the late Frances (Laddie) and Theresa Moore. Joanne was a little princess from the start. She became more physically beautiful throughout the years, and to say she was a head turner would be a gross understatement. Yet despite her delicate appearance, she was most happy when mowing the lawn, digging in her flower garden, and scrubbing her floors. She also made sure her husbands clothes were washed and ironed, and that he was well fed. And boy could she cook! Joanne’s kindness was off the charts and she would literally give you the gloves off her hands. Over the last dozen years, Joanne suffered from chronic pain and numerous other health issues, all of which led to her very premature demise. For the past 36 years, Joanne was employed with McInnes Cooper in various capacities. While not blessed with children of her own, Joanne was a loving step-mother to Jon and a doting mother to her four four-legged babies. Joanne had a keen sense of humour, especially the art of practical joking. She loved to waltz with her husband no matter the time of day or venue. While all are relieved that she is no longer suffering, her loss has left a tremendous void in the hearts of all who loved her. Beside her parents, Joanne was predeceased by brothers Mike and Jerry. She will be lovingly remembered by her devastated husband Jim Burke; stepson Jon; sister Trudy MacDonnell (Jim) of Nanaimo BC; brothers Jim (Barb) of Bathurst NB, and Frank (Dawn) and Kelly of Halifax; as well as many nieces and nephews and in-laws who loved her dearly. Finally, she leaves behind her handsome baby boy, “Beggar” the cat. Funeral arrangements have taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford (902-835-4212). A funeral mass will take place on Tuesday, November 27th, at 12:00 pm at St. Peters Roman Catholic Church, at 10 Maple Street, Dartmouth, with reception to follow in the church hall. Family flowers only. Donations in Joanne’s memory can be made to Bide A While Animal Shelter or the SPCA.
