Obituary of Marie Getz

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Marie (Gouthro) Getz, 56, on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at the Victoria General Hospital in Halifax. Born at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Lonnie and Mary (Boyd) Gouthro. Marie was a dedicated military wife working at various Sears locations until a posting in Israel. There she travelled extensively and worked at the Canadian Embassy in Tel Aviv. She retired with her husband in Glace Bay where she spent time planning future trips and making delicious pinterest meals. Survived by her husband Stephen of 34 years, son Kenneth (Sarah), daughter Stephanie (Nick), brother Lonnie (Melody), sisters Leone (Craig) and Lisa (Darrin), granddaughter Kamryn, mother-in-law Virginia, sisters-in-law Yvonne (Jon) and Alicia (Eric), brother-in-law David (Martina), and many nieces and nephews. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay (902) 849-4199. A memorial service will be held Saturday August 27, 2016 at 11:00am in T. J. Tracey Memorial Chapel, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Liver Foundation.
