Obituary of Janice Lynn Coates

Please share a memory of Janice to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, wife and best friend at the age of 59 while surrounded by her loving family. Born in Caledonia, NS she was the daughter of Delbert Fancy and Joanne (Frail) Conrad. While Janice was a mother of two daughters, her door was always open and she spent 20 years of her life babysitting other children in her home, of which she became a second mother. In 2012 Janice entered a new phase of her life as a grandmother for the first time. Being a nana to her babies brought a new joy to her life and her pride for her grandchildren was undeniable. Janice loved spending time with her family whether at her home or theirs and also enjoyed spending time at her cabin in North Brookfield, NS. Janice could always be found with a smile on her face and a way to make others laugh and bring happiness to those around her no matter the situation. When not with her family Janice enjoyed reading and crafting or shopping with special friend Karin Bobbitt. Janice is survived by her loving husband David, daughter Shannon Kempton (Kevin Noseworthy), Gays River, NS, Carinna (Mark) Ladouceur, and grandchildren Nathan Davis Ladouceur and Emma Lynn Ladouceur, all of Lower Sackville, stepchildren Amy (Joel) Bauman of Bancroft, ON; Meaghan Coates (Jeremy Boucher) and grandchild Avery Cathryn of Moncton, NB; Ashlynn Marie Coates (Andy Michon) Barrie, ON; Benjamin Coates, Wasaga Beach, ON; mother Joanne; Liverpool, NS; two sisters, four brother and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Janice is survived by Danielle (Mike) Brown of Lake Loon, NS. Janice was predeceased by her father Delbert Fancy and older brother Gary Fancy. Cremation has taken placed under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford, NS. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at Elmsdale Legion Branch 48, 850 Highway #2, Elmsdale, NS with John Coates officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care Home Team 7A VG Site or the VON District 2 Halifax. Special thanks to Palliative Care nurse Mitch Devoe and Dr. Corsten who showed our family compassion, care and guidance through the most difficult time of our lives. Also a special thank you to the VON District 2 nurses who cared not only for our mom but for our entire family during their visits.
