Obituary of Colista Sarah Poirier

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Colista Sarah Poirier, 84, passed away peacefully with her family by her side, Monday, October 31, 2016 at Glace Bay General Hospital.Born in Dominion, Colista was a daughter of the late John and Isabell (Campbell) McIntyre. Colista will be sadly missed by her children, Wayne (Linda), Bruce, Glenn (Emily), and Michelle (Rennie) Asada; also her grandchildren, Derek, Brent, Taylor, and Thomas. She will be missed by her surviving sister Lena Sweeny (Gardiner Mines), brother Bernie (Carol) McIntyre and sister-in-law Edna McIntyre. Also her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Besides her parents, Colista was predeceased by her husband, Tommy; her son Barry; sisters Vangie, Margret, Mary and Annie; brothers Daniel (Dupper), Harvey, John W. (Son) and Cecil. Colista will always be remembered for her love of country and western music, talking on the phone and entertaining her sisters and friends during ‘Club Night’ (game of cards). There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, (902) 849-4199. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, November 5 at 11:00 am in Immaculate Conception Church with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating. Interment will follow in St. Eugene’s Cemetery, Dominion. In lieu of flowers, donations in Colista’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or charity of choice.
