Obituary of Darryl Timothy Bach

It is with broken hearts that we, the family of Darryl Timothy Bach, 52, of Glace Bay, NS announce that he passed away on November 22, 2016 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital in Sydney, NS after a long battle with ALS. Darryl was born in New Westminster, BC. He was the much-loved son of Derrill and Carolyn (Hay) Bach. Darryl grew up in New Westminster, BC and graduated from New Westminster Secondary School in 1982. In 1995, Darryl moved to Glace Bay, NS. He graduated from NSCC Marconi Campus with a Certificate in Business Information Technologies in 1998 and a Diploma in Computer Systems Management in 1999. He was also A+ certified. Darryl had many jobs over the years but the one he loved the most was working at Seaside Communications as a System Administrator. Throughout his illness he still enjoyed going to the office and the staff at Seaside could not do enough for him. Darryl was an avid traveller especially after he became ill. He enjoyed family vacations to British Columbia, Florida and the Caribbean. He crossed many things off his bucket list including trips to India, Germany and Amsterdam. In the last few years Darryl’s Catholic faith grew and became very strong. He travelled to Medjugorje twice. The first time he was involved in the filming of Apparition Hill, a documentary. The second time he returned to see the premiere of the movie. He was very proud and honoured to be involved in this project. Darryl’s strong faith inspired many people. Darryl is survived by his loving wife, Sheena (Barrett) and his two precious daughters, Kristen and Julia who were the light of his life. His two caring sisters Deborah (Marty McOmber), Seattle, WA and Ashley, Montreal, Quebec. His uncle Ron (Edelone) Hay, Pitt Meadows, BC and aunt Sharryl ( Jim) Williamson Kelowna, BC. His in-laws Cecil and Cecelia Barrett, Glace Bay, NS, brother -in -law Jim (Thelma) Barrett, Dominion, NS and Jane Anne Barrett, Sydney, NS. His nieces Angela, and Sarah Glace Bay, Kimberley Edmonton AB and nephew Christopher Calgary AB. Special friends Kevin Jung, Jack Lew and John Herron. He is also survived by his loving dog and faithful companion Bailey. Darryl was predeceased by his maternal grandparents Bertha Cruthers and Wesley Hay, paternal grandparents Floyd and Mickey Bach and special uncle Stan Hay. Visitation will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm in TJ Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay. A eulogy of memories will be read at 7:00pm by Darryl’s sister, Deborah. Darryl’s Funeral mass will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 10:00am in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. Interment will be at St. Anthony’s Parish Cemetery.
