Obituary of William Miller
William “Billy” Miller, 91 of Glace Bay, passed away peacefully December 8,2016 at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Chris and Margaret Miller.
“Billy” Dad, Grandpa, was a husband, father, grandfather and coal miner. He genuinely enjoyed being all of these things. As a young man he played baseball and hockey. In his 30’s and 40’s he was an avid bowler in the colliery league and was proud of his many trophies.
He was a loving husband of 64 yrs. for “Toots”. As a father for Tim he was always supportive and happy to assist him in any way. When Dani and Mathew came along, he was the best grandfather around.
He worked as a coal miner for his whole life, in the #20 colliery, #26 colliery and finally in Lingan a career spanning 45 years. He will be remembered for his funny expressions if you did something dumb, you were a ‘Haddock’, if you broke something, he would say ‘give it to er’, and if you said something that he didn’t believe, you were ‘full of bologna’.
In later yrs., he and Toots traveled to Hawaii, Florida, Barbados and finally spent many summers at the bungalow on Brickyard Rd.
Our family will not be the same with out him.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother John.
