Obituary of Joyce Irene MacHardie

JOYCE IRENE MACHARDIE June 5, 1949 – December 28, 2016 Joyce was much-loved “Mom” to son Darren (Pamela Beck), and “Nanny” to Ryan, Nathan, and Barrett – the three grandsons who were her pride and joy. Joyce will be remembered with great love for her larger-than-life personality, boisterous laugh, sense of fun, generosity, and incredible enthusiasm for all things Christmas. Joyce lived her life constantly surrounded by the many friends she made during her long career as a resident property manager. Throughout the years, through her recent illness, and in her final moments, she was both the giver and recipient of many acts of kindness. Because it was Joyce’s wish not to have a formal memorial service, we invite her friends and neighbours to join us in gathering around her beautiful Christmas tree at an open house in her home on January 2 from 6-8 pm. We’re deeply grateful to her dear friends who assisted us in her care, allowing her to spend her favourite time of year at home. Thank you to her wonderful palliative care team and staff at the VG. We’re extremely appreciative for all your help, kind words and actions.
