Obituary of John Alexander Dunn

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of (Butch) John Alexander Dunn, 68 of Glace Bay on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the Palliative Care Unit in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a courageous 10 year battle with cancer. Butch made a peaceful journey to heaven, with his loving wife, Theresa and sister, Muriel by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John and Cleophus (MacDonald) Dunn.
Butch worked for 30 Years in numerous Coal Mines, retiring from Lingan Phalen. He then spent his summers with his son Donnie and Grandchildren, enjoying his family watching Hockey Games, newscasts and having in depth conversations with his son Michael about world events.
He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 45 years, Theresa (Walsh); his sons, Michael (Glace Bay), Donnie (Dawn), Ontario; grandchildren, Ebony, Carmel, Jasper and Keifer; brothers Jimmy (Glace Bay), Donnie, Joey and Maurice (Toronto); sister, Muriel (Bates) Toronto and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Butch was predeceased by his sisters, Catherine, Irene and Leona.
As requested by the family there will be no visitation and cremation has taken place.
Donations may be made in Butch’s Memory to the Cancer Centre or Palliative Care at Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
A Heartfelt thanks to all Doctors and Nurses who treated Butch, especially Dr. Khodadad, at the Cancer Unit.
