Obituary of James Wilbert Schrader

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Wilbert Schrader, 76 of Lower Sackville, NS who passed away February 5, 2017 at the Cobequid Health Center. Born in Canso, NS, he was the son of James W. Schrader and Elizabeth (Avory) Schrader. Jim was a wonderful caring person who was well liked by everyone who knew him. In his early years, he worked at HMC Dockyard and Dartmouth Transit. In his later years, he drove Taxi and worked for Canada Post. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, earning the title “Buck Master” with his sharp eye! He also loved camping and sitting by the fire at Soldiers Lake along with many other special places where all his family and friends gathered. Jim loved singing songs with the love of his life Charmaine and his children who meant the world to him. We will miss him dearly. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Charmaine (MacKinnon) Schrader; sons, James Jr., Blaine (Susan), and Dean; daughters, Marnie (Stephen), and Wanda (Cecil); sisters, Beverly and Susan (Willie); and grandchildren, Lee, Doug, Christie, Heather, Tiffany, Shane, Stephanie, Lisa, Brandon, Christopher, Dean Jr. and Brooklyn. Jim is also survived by his 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Harold, Bill and John; and sisters, Jean, Joyce and Patricia. Funeral service will be held Monday, February 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 125 Metropolitan Ave, Lower Sackville, with reception to follow. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville Drive. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
