Obituary of John Stephen Cogswell

John Stephen Cogswell, age 68 of Halifax, passed away suddenly on November 29th, 2018 at home. Born in Louisdale NS, he was the son of Theresa and the late David Cogswell. Stephen was retired from Stora; a lifelong member of the St. Peters Legion, branch 47; he dedicated 17 years of his life to the cadets organization, he was a volunteer fire chief in his home town of Louisdale, and enjoyed playing crib with his friends. He is survived by his wife and soulmate Veronica (Stone) of 48 years; sons Keith (Tracey) and David (Elaine); daughter Karen (Michelle); sister Dianne Cogswell; and 3 grandchildren Connor, Oliver, and Sophia. Beloved by his family and friends and known for his jovial spirit and kind heart, he was a second father to many and will be truly missed. Beside his father, he was predeceased by beloved mother and father in law Ida and Raymond stone, as well as brother in law Gerald Stone. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Bedford. (902-835-4212) A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 7th, 2018, at 10:00 am, at St. Agnes Church, 6903 Mumford Road, with Father Paul Morris officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Stephen`s memory can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
