Frederick Albert Leafloor (B: September 19, 1927 / D: April 23, 2017) passed away at the age of 89 in hospital after complications from an infection. Predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Marie Agnes Leafloor (née: Briand), Fred ‘Senior’ is survived by his sons Fred ‘Junior’ (Wife Deirdre O’Reilly) and Lee Mark (Wife Wanda Leafloor, née MacDonald), Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Andrea, Kyanna and Lillian; and Great Grandchildren: Jake and Jude. Growing up in Ottawa and later Montreal, Fred joined the Royal Canadian Navy at age 19 and made it his life’s career. He travelled the world with Navy and served in a number of conflict zones, including the Korean War aboard HMCS Haida in 1951-52. After retiring from the RCN in later life, Fred continued his uniformed service as civilian security staff for a Crown Corporation and later served as a Commissionaire on the Angus L. MacDonald Bridge (Halifax). After a stroke in 2010, he resided at his home under the loving care of Lee and Wanda, both work professionally as Home Care Specialists, until his transfer to Camp Hill Veteran’s Hospital in late 2016. Fred has been cremated and was laid to rest by immediate family in a private ceremony of life.
