Obituary of Gerald ‘Jed’ MacDonald

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Gerald ‘Jed’ MacDonald (59), on May 5, 2017 at the Glace Bay Health Care Complex. Born in Glace Bay, he was a son of the late Sanford and Mildred (Pyke) Mac Donald. He was employed with Devco for 24 years and later with Traffic Control/Construction until his health declined.
Jed was a man who lived his life to the fullest and was a friend to all. His wife and children always came first. He loved to watch and play hockey with his favourite team being the Chicago Black Hawks, he was one of the original volunteers of the Vince Ryan Tournament. His passion was a fishing rod and lake, he and Adeline enjoyed their long drives throughout the island, especially New Campbellton.
Jed leaves behind his loving wife of 35 years, Adeline; his children, Lenny (Lindsey) MacInnis, Rhonda (James) Kelloway, Gerry and Nikki (Benny Green); his grandchildren, Nathan, Keegan, Connor, George, John, Noah, Brody, Jesslynn (his best friend) and Jaedyn, and his pets, AJ and Ally.
He is also survived by brothers, Ronnie (Heather), Paul (Kaylee) and Robert (Rochelle); brother-in-law, Art (Felicity) McInnis; sisters, Mary (Kirby) and Marg (Robert), and many aunts/uncles, nieces and nephews; best friends, Lorne (Michelle) MacIntyre and Ernie (Debbie) Pyke.
Jed was predeceased by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Leonard and Shirley Larkham, and brothers, Hank and Michael.
Jed would not want to be mourned but to be remembered with a smile. Adeline and family would like to thank Dr. Spencer, 3rd floor Nursing Staff at Glace Bay Hospital and the Staff at the Renal Lab.

Visitation will be held for the late Jed Mac Donald at TJ Tracey Funeral Home Memorial Chapel, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199 on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 10 a.m. Funeral Services to follow at 11 a.m. with Father Norman Mac Phee officiating.
