CAMPBELL, Michael “Debbie” Delvin
It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Michael “Debbie” Campbell, 82 of Glace Bay on June 3, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Reserve Mines, he was the son of the late Sarah and Rodderick Campbell.
Until his wife’s passing, Michael spent 50 years with the love of his life, Marg. Michael’s long time career was an employee of the United Mine Workers of America and during his career he was on the safety committee. Michael also worked in New York as a plumber for a number of years. When Michael wasn’t spending time with his family, he spent his time at Tim Horton’s with his friends. Michael was an avid golfer, who achieved 4 holes in one, the last one being at 80 years old.
Michael is survived by his two sons, Michael (Shelly) Campbell, Donald “D.J.” Campbell (Geraldine Roberts); his seven daughters, Carol (Allister) Smith, Marie (Nelson) O’Brien, Tina (Todd) Grant, Joanne Campbell (Randy Gilmet), Melinda (Chris) Sewarun, Debra (Joe) Farrow, Donna Campbell (Dale Hunter). He is also survived by his three brothers, Sheldon Campbell, Bill Campbell, and Steve (Joanne) Campbell; his two sisters, Caddy Osborne and Clair (John ) MacDonald; his 12 grandchildren, Michael, Jason, Ashley, Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Sabetha, Jordan, Sarah, Adrian and Ethan and Alex; his five great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Hanrahan) Campbell; son, Edward; brothers, Ron and Alex and sister, Gloria.
Cremation has taken place. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers, donations may be to the Palliative Care or the VON.
A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines, with Father Dan Boudreau officiating.
A reception will follow at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
The family would like to give thanks to the Palliative Care and the VON, also the New Waterford Home Care. We the family, would like to give a special thank you to Lorelie Dillon for the special care given to our Dad during his final days, words will never express your kindness and love.
