Obituary of Moran Ellard Hiltz

Moran Ellard Hiltz, 82, of Bedford, passed away peacefully on December 4th, 2018 with his family by his side. Born in Beech Hill, Nova Scotia on March 26th, 1936 he was the son of the late Ellard and Elsie Hiltz. Moran started his career in plumbing and heating at the age of 17 and continued to be an active member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 56 for 65 years. Moran was a perfectionist and it was evident in the many projects he completed for his family and friends. One of his biggest accomplishments was the building of the cottage in Chester where he spent as much time as he could tending his gardens and wood-working. In his early life, he especially enjoyed hunting, fast cars and was particularly fond of his 1976 Ford LTD. Moran could strike up a conversation with anyone, loved to tell stories and listen to bluegrass music. He was extremely proud of the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 54 years Luella (Young) Hiltz; daughter Barbara Ann (Mike) Gorrell; sons Michael (Jenny) and Darren (Karyn); daughters Deborah and Cindy; grandchildren, Alexander, Ryan, Lauren, Angus and Lila; special niece Beverly Heise. Visitation with reception will be held Saturday, December 8th, 2018 2-5pm at Bedford United Church, 1200 Bedford Highway. Interment for immediate family at a later date. A special thank you to Dr. David MacNeil and the nursing staff on the palliative care unit of the Victoria General Hospital.
