Obituary of John Robert MacKeigan

It is with broken hearts we the announce the passing of Junior MacKeigan on Wednesday, June 28,2017 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Robert and Shirley (Lynk) MacKeigan of Bridgeport. Junior was a labourer all of his life, president of the N.S. Liberal Association, and a long term member of Row Street Athletic Club. He was an avid dart player and just all around outdoorsman. He loved to spend as much time as he could in beloved Iona with his family especially his grandson, Devin and his brothers and sisters. Many precious memories were made around the campfire in Iona. Junior is survived by his loving wife, Ann Marie, his children, Jason (Dawn), Sheri (Joey), Lori and Kelsey (James); brothers and sisters, Shirley (Ricky), Florence (Dave), Colleen (Kerry), Cheryl (Stanley), Billy, Kenny (Donna), Keith, Eddie (Bernadette); as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Junior will be missed by so many people but none more than his precious grandchildren, his girls Kayla, Emma and Breah, his eldest grandson Devin, his little buddies Nathan, Jayden and Alex and poppy’s baby girl Avaeha. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Richie and sister-in-law, Ruth. We would like to thank Dr. Spencer and the nursing staff on 3rd floor south especially his nurse Sam for their kindness. Junior’s legacy of loving support, respect and devotion will continue to send ripples through our lives. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 2,2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay, 902-849-4199 Funeral service will be take place 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 3,2017 at Warden United Church with Rev.
