Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with very heavy hearts that we announce the passing of David Sampson, Age 59, of Bedford. David passed away surrounded by loved ones, on July 4, 2017 at the QEII after a very brief battle with cancer. Born in St. Peter’s, Cape Breton he was a son of the late Lawrence and Mary (Campbell) Sampson. David worked in the construction trade for over 40 years. He was very passionate and meticulous about his work in Drywall and always willing to lend some “tricks of the trade” to others. David was a people person as he always had loving family and friends surrounding him. Many will remember Dave’s shed as his sanctuary where his friends were always welcome to stop by for a chat and a beer or two. He had a green thumb and was very nurturing of his continually impressive backyard vegetable garden. Dave loved anything with an engine and would always run it at full speed. He was known for his big blue eyes and contagious smile which could brighten any room. David was a kind-hearted, compassionate, and generous soul, he didn’t want to see anyone go without and was always dependable to lend a helping hand. He had a kind word for everyone. David was very loving, gentle, and patient in his fatherhood. He was a creature of habit and humble in his ways. He was not one to gripe or complain no matter how things were going. Although his battle with cancer was brief, he had such a strong mentality and will until his dying breath. When he was diagnosed on June 2, 2017, he said that he would “fight it or die trying” which he did. David is survived by the love of his life, wife Colleen (Bryenton) of 25 years; children, Steven and Taylor, Bedford; sisters, Lilian, Bedford, Beverly (Arnold) McIntyre, St. Peter’s, Heather (Pat) MacNeil, Halifax; brothers, Terry and Bryon, Bedford, many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. He will be remembered fondly and forever missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Bedford Legion, Branch #95, on Sunday, July 9 at 11am.
