Norman Dennis MacKenzie, 84, of Halifax passed away peacefully on August 5, 2017 at home surrounded by his wife and family. Born in New Glasgow, he was the son of the late Charles and Hannah (Baker) MacKenzie.
Norman was employed in the insurance industry until his retirement in 1995, where he made many friends over the years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge receiving his 50 year pin in May 2017.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie (Hill) of 60 years; daughters Sandra (Dale) Burke, Deborah (Peter) Brennan; grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Nick (Amber Patterson) Burke, Josh (Merissa Campbell) Burke, Natalie (Todd) Bartlett, Matthew Brennan; great grandchildren Isaiah Bartlett, Mia Burke; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sisters Cora Dunbar, Florence Ranger, Jean Hopton, Emma Keyes and brothers Garfield, John , Clifford.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 12 at 11 am in Fairview United Church 3524 Dutch Village Road, Halifax. Mavis Peddie Peters (Student Minister, Fairview United Church) officiating. Burial at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Canadian Blood Services, Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or a charity of your choice. A special thank you to the staff of the Haematology Clinic, Medical Day Unit VG Site and Bayers Road Blood Collection.
