It is with broken hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Florence “Mae” Turner on

Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney with her family by her side.

Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Effie Gaskell and raised by her grandparents, George and Marcella (Mugford) Simmons.

She was an avid dart player at the Hub Club. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Mae is survived by her son, Ervin Simmons (Patsy); sister, Marcella Angelo; brothers, George “Sonny” (Eileen) Simmons and Kenneth Gaskell; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her mother and grandparents, she was predeceased by her sister, Mariam; brothers, Calvin, Bill, Fred, Warrick and Alfred “Butch”.

Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Glace Bay with Deacon Leo Penny officiating.
