It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jacqueline Frances Brann, on Saturday, September 30, 2017, surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, Sharon.
Born in Glace Bay, NS, on October 25, 1939, Jackie was the daughter of the late Louis “Duckie” and Margaret (AuCoin) Yates.
Jackie was a member of St. Anthony’s Parish. In her younger years, she was employed at George’s Pizza. In later years, she could be found working alongside of her daughter, Sharon, in the greenhouse. This was Jackie’s happy place. She looked forward to gardening season every year and always enjoyed chatting with old and new friends there.
Jackie is survived by her daughters, Darlene (Glenn) MacDonald and Sharon (Kevin) Byrne; sons, John (Cheryl) and Barry (Wanda); grandchildren: Glenn (Alicia), Kirk (Melissa), Amanda (Mark), Ashley (Craig), Kali (Brad), Devon, Tyler and Cameron; great grandchildren: Austin, Dakota, Madison, Kylee, Carly, Keenan, Emily, Heidi and Zoe. She is also survived by brothers, Louis (Geri), Weldon (Joan) and Darrell (Ruth); sisters, Linda Bailey and Beverly (Rick) Brown; brother-in-law, Robert Brann; and sisters-in-law, Nonie MacDonald, Dolly Allen, Mary Brann, Isabelle and Barbara Yates.
Besides her parents, Jackie was predeceased her husband, John; son, Louis Gerard, in infancy; brother, Francis, daughter-in-law, Tanya Smith Brann; brothers-in-law, Naish Brann, Mick Brann and Ronald Bailey.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017, at T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve Street, Glace Bay, NS. A funeral service will be celebrated on at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at the funeral home with Father Norman MacPhee officiating. Interment will follow in St. Anthony Parish Cemetery.
