George B ‘Cuddy’ MacIntyre
Glace Bay, N.S.
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of George B ‘Cuddy’ MacIntyre, announce his passing on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at the age of 86, at the Glace Bay Hospital. Born in Glace Bay in 1938, George was the son of the late John Allan and Mary MacIntyre.
A carpenter by trade, George spent over 48 years in the United States, where his incredible talent and tireless work ethic were evident in the many beautiful homes he built and renovated. A true perfectionist, he was widely admired for his exceptional craftsmanship, which was also reflected in the countless pieces of furniture he lovingly created for family and friends.
Upon his retirement, George returned to Glace Bay with his beloved wife, Patricia, and built their dream home overlooking the ocean. The ocean was a source of joy and peace for George, and he spent countless hours taking in the magnificent views from his sunroom. He took great pleasure in hosting family and friends for his annual Canada Day celebrations, creating cherished memories in his home. He also enjoyed catching up with friends over coffee at the local Tim Hortons and listening to Cape Breton music. A builder at heart, George continued to spend hours in his garage working on woodworking projects, always with his loyal dog by his side.
George is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Patricia; sons George Jr. (New Hampshire), John (Everett, Mass.), Michael (Woburn, Mass.), and Bradford (Malden, Mass.); and his daughter, Mary Jean (New Hampshire). He is also survived by his brother, Charlie (Anne) MacIntyre of Glace Bay, and his sister, Catherine, of Montreal. Cuddy leaves behind cherished grandchildren: George III, Gina, Joseph, Christopher, Nicole, Dylan, Zachary and Michael; and great-grandchildren: Colter George, MadiRae, and Elodie Rose.
Along with his parents, George was predeceased by his grandson Michael; his sisters, Mary C. and Margaret ‘Sis’; and his brother John.
As per George’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and there will be no visitation or service.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the nurses on the 3rd and 4th floor of the Glace Bay Hospital for their remarkable kindness and compassionate care.
