Kimberly Anne Mackie
Dominion/formerly Gardiner Mines
It is with great sadness that we, the family of Kimberly Anne Mackie say our final farewell after her long, courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Born in 1964, Kim was adored by her parents, the late Robert and Joan (MacNeil) Mackie. As a child, Kim possessed a contagious smile, an entertaining sense of humor and was the apple of her father’s eye.
A kinder soul, one would never meet. Kim dedicated her life to others and her memory will be forever cherished by husband, Alan; her pride and joy, her son, Colton, and brothers, Brian (Valerie) and Robert (Ruby). She will be lovingly remembered by her extended family and countless friends.
Family and friends were Kim’s love and joy. She loved to try new recipes, spend time in the garden and listen to music. Family vacations on Prince Edward Island and Sussex’s annual hot air balloon festival were warmly retained in her recollections. Throughout her life, Kim maintained an engaging and positive demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Her signature gift of joy was adored and shared with clients and co-workers of the medical practices in which she worked. Years later, these clients would comment remembering Kim’s kind smile and express their thoughts and prayers for Kim throughout her challenging journey.
Kim’s progression through the stages of this debilitating disease would never extinguish her poise which brought out the nurturing love of her many caregivers. For these special people, we will be eternally grateful: Harboustone Spanish Bay, VON, Home Care, CBRH unit 3A, Harbourview Rehab Unit, Dr. Steven MacDougall and Dr. Mandat Maharaj.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held Thursday, October 26, 2017 from 6-9 p.m. at the T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS, 902-849-4199.
There will be no funeral or burial service as per Kim’s wishes.
