Obituary of Beverly Anne Tennyson-McCarthy
Born June 3, 1946 – Died November 26, 2024, age 78.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverly Ann Tennyson-McCarthy, a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, and friend. Beverly passed away on November 26, 2024, at the age of 78, in her hometown of Sydney, NS, where she was born and lived most of her life.
Bev is survived by her daughter, Lindsay Tennyson; son, Christopher (Buffy) Tennyson; granddaughter, Breeanna Tennyson; sisters, Anne Marie (Roger) Chiasson, Maureen (Lester) Capstick, and stepsister, Marilyn Hallam; brother, Terry Keough; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her second husband, Charles McCarthy; her mother, Adelaide Keough (née Halloran); her stepfather, James Keough; and her father, Arthur Pendlebury.
Beverly had a remarkable passion (and talent) for the arts, dedicating many years to work in both radio and theatre. In her younger years, she would also be requested to sing at various events. She was a voracious reader, particularly fond of cookbooks, which she devoured like novels. Her love of cooking was just one of the many ways she expressed creativity and joy. It was also a way of expressing her love to family and friends.
Bev had an extraordinary ability to make the simplest things seem magical to children, and she could turn everyday moments into lasting memories for kids. Her warmth and imagination touched the hearts of all those lucky enough to spend time with her, and she was a source of joy and wonder to her family and friends.
Bev’s greatest joy was her family. She felt her emotions deeply and without reserve, often experiencing them in rapid succession, but always with an intensity that matched her big heart. Her love for her children and granddaughter knew no bounds, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
