Obituary of Stanley Joseph Katryk
"Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, Unheard, and always dear, still loved, still missed and always here"
On November 18, 2024: It is with broken hearts that, we the family, announce the passing of a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Stan Katryk Jr.
Born in Sydney, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Stanley Katryk and Margie(Porga) Katryk. Stan is survived by his loving wife, Theresa; son Tony (Jaime); his pride and joy - grandchildren, Jaelyn and Riley; sister, Joanne (Bob) Beaton; sister-in- law, Betty (Kenny) Evans; brother-in-law, Allan Mahoney, and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by mother-in-law and father-in-law, Dolena (Joseph) and Angus Mac Neil, and sister-in-law, Joan Mahoney.
Stan was employed within the steel fabrication business for 50 years, retiring as general manager from East Coast Fabrication Inc. as result of his serious health issues. Stan was an inspirational worker, and he was always available to teach, guide, or assist others whenever he could, whether in the workplace or within his community.
In his free time over the years, Stan enjoyed home design and construction, having built many homes of his own. He took pride in maintaining his flower garden and the property surrounding their family home. Stan loved to golf with his buddies, and he also enjoyed vacationing with Theresa, family, and friends.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Tracey's Funeral Home, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. A visitation and memorial service to celebrate Stan's life will be held on Friday, November 22, at the funeral home. The gathering of family and friends will take place at 11 'clock with a memorial service to follow at 12:00 in the funeral home Chapel under the direction of Rev. Paul Murphy. A light lunch will be served in the reception area following the service.
We, the family, would like to thank the doctors, nurses and support staff of the Halifax Hospitals, Cape Breton Regional Hospital and Palliative Care for all their support and care over the past six years. We would also like to thank the Hospice Cape Breton, Sydney, for their exceptional care and comfort shown to Stan these last weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Palliative care/Hospice Cape Breton or to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre. To leave words of condolence to the family, please visit www.tjtracey.com.
"Grief never ends, but it changes.
It's a passage, not a place to stay
Grief is not a sign a weakness, nor a lack of faith….
It is the price of love"
