Obituary of Bessie Gillis

Elizabeth 'Bessie' (MacPherson) Gillis Dominion, N.S. We the family of Elizabeth 'Bessie' (MacPherson) Gillis are saddened to announce her passing on November 18, 2024, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Palliative Care Unit. Born in Glace Bay, Bessie was the daughter of the late John and Martha MacPherson. She is survived by her loving daughter Janet (Greg) Fortune, her fur grandbaby Max, The Pas, Manitoba; Bessie is also survived by sisters Mona (Billy) Brown, Catherine “Johnny” (Francis) MacKenzie, Elaine (Stevie B) MacNeil, Neila (Lorne) Smith, and a brother Matthew MacPherson, as well as several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Bessie was predeceased by her sisters Joan, Lois and Druscilla, as well as a sister-in-law Mary MacPherson. We would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital who gave care and comfort to Bessie. In honouring Bessie’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
