Obituary of Gerald David Barrington

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald David Barrington on November 9th, 2024, at the age of 71. Gerald was born in Sydney, N.S. to Frank and Victoria (Pierrynowski) Barrington. Gerald was a loving partner to Sheila Reeves for the past 17 years. Gerald was an autobody man/painter for over 40 years. He enjoyed skiing with Sheila and their friends at Ski Ben Eoin, traveling, spending time in Ingonish, hiking, spending time with family and friends, and doing many handy things for his family and friends. Gerald had an amazing sense of humor and way with words. He was a very kind and giving man who will be deeply missed by all those who knew him. Gerald is survived by his partner/fiancé, Sheila Reeves, of 17 years; son, Joel Barrington (Heather); stepson, Kris Reeves (Wendy); stepdaughter, Natalie Reeves Christensen (Justin); son-in-law, Shawn Mantley; grandchildren, Nell Barrington, Nolan Barrington, Amira Reeves, Dalia Reeves, and Raiden and Rio Christensen; brothers, Bobby, Mike (Marie), Frank (Sandra), Doug (Bernadette), and Bruce (Joy); sisters, Francis MacLeod, Judy Donovan (Vince), and Susan Griffin (George), as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Loretta (Robertson) Barrington, daughter, Anita Barrington, and brother, Joe Barrington. Special thank you to the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit and Hospice Cape Breton, doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers for the amazing care they provided to him in his last days of life. Donations in Gerald’s memory may be made to Hospice Cape Breton. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, November 14, 11 am, at the funeral home, Rev.
