Born in Africville he was a son of the late, Vera (Byers) and Harry Carter.
Lonnie enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and maintaining his vegetable garden. He was a kind soul.
Predeceased by his brother, Melvin Carter; sister, Sharon David; nephew, Brian David Jr.
Survived by his son, Lonnie Murphy; grandchildren, Jordan Grandy, Ziva London Isaac; nephews, Arnel, Clayton, Brian, Brandon, and Raymond (Vancouver); nieces, Tamara, Aniya and many others; aunt, Shirley Brown; special sister-in-law, Rose Carter; best friend, Wendy Tynes (Toronto) and Barry Parsons (Lucasville)
Special thanks to his sister-in-law Rose who took care of his every day needs and was there by his side until the end, nephews Brandon and Brian who assisted Lonnie whenever he needed a helping hand, and to the QEII Victoria General 8A staff.
