Dear Tom and Family,
It was with profound sadness that I read of Annette's passing. I first met her when I moved to JBC as vice-principal. She was the Resource Teacher and I quickly became aware of her value to the staff in general and the students under her care in particular. She treated them, not as special needy, but as "special". She loved them and they loved her. She would drop by my office and glow with the achievement of her charges that particular day. Her devotion was infectous! When I moved on to Bridgeport as Principal, I carried with me a genuine understanding of what was involved with teaching childrent with special needs.
Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of this remarkable wife, mother and teacher. She will be sorely missed.

To say that we were shocked and saddened when we heard of Annette's passing would be an understatement!
We always looked forward to seeing Annette during our visits home. She always greeted us with a huge hug, a broad smile and an even bigger heart.
Annette was quite the storyteller and always kept us laughing, especially when regaling us with a colourful account of Tom's foibles which she told lovingly with a smile on her face and a twinkle in her eye. We could always count on Annette to be the voice of reason in our sometimes overly raucous crowd - her patient, quiet manner and soothing voice could tame the most savage beast among us. And in agreement with Fred, many of us have replaced our bucket list with Annette's f__k it list philosophy and are much happier as a result. She certainly made us laugh when she told us that gem. Truly a special memory that will forever give us a chuckle and will always hold a special place in our hearts.
Annette was an authentic amazing person; her devotion to Tom and the girls was an inspiration to us all. We truly feel privileged in having known her. She will be sorely missed and the world is now a little less bright because of her passing.
Tom and girls - there are no words that can ease your pain during this sorrowful time but take comfort in the fact that Annette touched so many people and was, and still is, a genuinely beautiful angel!
Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Richard and Trish

One of my favourite friend memories was an overnight at our house. The guys were cheering and moaning at a football game on tv while Annette and I were curled up in bed with our fluffy socks on, giggling like teenagers and solving the problems of the world which took all night.
Gary and I will miss her unique laugh and dry wit, and we will be raising a glass to this beautiful woman - cheers to you Annette, you were one of the good ones. Godspeed dear friend. Kate and Gary Whalen

This is very sad news.I worked for several years with Annette “Mabel”, at JBC—she was always so kind, and gentle. Never saw her get upset— she was a calming influence on the kids, ( as well as in the staff room), which was often needed in the school setting. And the kids and the staff all loved her. My sincere condolences for your loss. Danny Hiscott

I first met Annette, the summer of 2012 during a reunion of the ‘gang’ from Sydney. Tom, a childhood friend of mine, introduced us in his usual ‘ lovingly way’. Throughout that weekend, I came to see and understand how beautiful Annette was, not just on the outside but more importantly, on the inside. It made me feel happy for Tom that he had a loving and compassionate soulmate by his side. During conversations of bucket lists which all of us discussed, Annette, in a very convincing but quiet tone, (at this point I truly hope the family forgives me but this is a memory that, in my opinion, describes her wit, and inner beauty) said that she no longer has or believes in bucket lists but f__k it lists are on the top of her agenda. I always have and will continue to keep that philosophical phrase with me.

I was so saddened to hear of Annette's passing. My thoughts go out to you, Tommy, and the girls.
I have such great memories of my summers spent with all of you down over the hill at the bungalow swimming, hanging out, and roasting marshmallows at the campfire Annette was always so good to me and I will never forget that.
We will always have the memories.
