As a schoolmate throughout our formative years in Glace Bay, Joanne’s passing is attended with heartfelt grief by the many of us who carried armloads of books to school, shared our sticks of gum, did ‘the Twist’, and kissed goodnight after dances at ‘Teen Town’. She and I shared the wonderful union of her Uncle Nelson and my Aunt Ruth, our Acadia connections, and close friendship. A profoundly disturbing loss. My condolences to Steve, Jimmie, and all those closest.

Joanne and I were good friends in high school. We had lots of fun. I can still remember her laugh. Her Dad used to lend her the little red Toyota and off we'd go. Condolences to Joanne's family, especially Jimmy for the loss of this wonderful woman way too soon.

So deeply sorry hear of Joanne's passing. One of the girls from South Street, this is close to my heart. I have known Joanne and her family most of my life, as we grew up just a few doors away from each other. I will always remember her laugh which was never far beneath the surface. Dear Stephen and Family, It was with profound shock and sadness that we learned of Joanne's passing. Our friendship with her stems back to high school (Morrison) and University (Acadia). She was always fun to be around and her laughter was infectious. We occasionally interacted with her in the teaching profession where she distinguished herself; she will be sorely missed. Sorry to hear of Joanne's Passing. She was a beautiful lady who I have known for a very long time from Sunday School and Church, getting my hair done by her Mom, going to high school, etc. Joanne and I also enjoyed discussing our painting when we would meet.
