Bradley Lewellyn Strong, age 70, of Reserve Mines passed away surrounded by his family on September 16th, 2024, at the Palliative Care unit of Cape Breton Regional Hospital after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, he was the youngest son of Lou and Evelyn Strong of the Hub.
Lewellyn was a fisherman by trade, avid motorcycle enthusiast, HAM radio operator and loved his family more than anything, except maybe his Slingshot. He was a former member of the Hub Club, Radio Club and Free-Wheelin' Association.
Left to mourn his loss is his loving wife of 50 years, Carol (King); his two sons Bradley (Vanessa) and Bruce (Ashley) and his daughter, Laura Lee (Rob Rowe); his 12 grandchildren Justin (Kendra), Erica, Patrick, Rudy, Dylan, Cleo, Gracie, Nicholas, Rhys, Chase, Joshua and Carolyn. He is also survived by his brother Bruce (Helen) Strong as well as several nieces and nephews.
Lew was predeceased by his parents Lou and Evelyn Strong, his two brothers Gordon and Gary "Doc" Strong, his in-laws Isabel and George "Dubby" King; his sister-in-law Sissy Strong and brother-in-law James MacGillivary.
There will be no visitation. The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, September 20th at 11am at TJ Tracey's, Glace Bay. Private interment will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3 East at Glace Bay Healthcare and 4A and 4E at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. A special thank you to the doctors and nurses of his Palliative Care team. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to CBRH Palliative Care.
