Obituary of James MacArthur
It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of James “Jim ” MacArthur, age 87. Jim passed away peacefully on September 11th, 2024, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Inverness, Jim was the son of the late John William and Catherine (Beaton) MacArthur.
Jim spent the majority of his life as a plumber which he loved best. Jim was known for his great sense of humour and always ready with a good joke. He loved to hunt and never missed a Toronto Maples Leaf game. Jim enjoyed visiting the staff at Thornes, especially Sharon and Brushett, having coffee with his Tim Horton’s friends, eating home baked sweets and playing cards with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Marguerite (McIntyre), his daughters Tracey (Kevin) LeBlanc, Kelly (Michael Shepherd) and True (Brent) Burke and his cherished grandchildren, Danielle (Dennis), Emily, Owen, Drea, Olivia and Jera.
Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his brothers, John, Don, Buddy, Billy, Harry and Duncan; sisters Rose (Kennedy) and Faye (Petrie) and granddaughter, Hayden Elizabeth Shepherd.
Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital and the QEll Health Centre, especially Dr Christie. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tom McNeil Cancer Patient Care Fund at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, from 6-8 pm.
